Frequently asked questions

How do I look up an FCC ID number?

Read it from the back of the fob or under the battery cover (it starts with FCC ID), type it into the box above and we show matching keys. You can also open the page for any FCC ID in the list below to see every vehicle that uses it.

How do I find the FCC ID on a car key?

It is printed on the back of the fob, inside the case near the battery, or on a sticker. Some smart keys show it only on the circuit board. See our guide for photos and tips.

What does FCC ID stand for and what is its purpose?

The Federal Communications Commission gives each radio device an ID so it can be traced to its approved design. For car keys it identifies the transmitter, which is why replacement fobs are matched by FCC ID.

Is the FCC ID the same as a serial number?

No. The FCC ID is shared by every unit of the same design. It is not unique to your key.
