What happens to your VIN

When you submit a VIN it is sent from your browser to this site, which forwards it to the UrbanX key-finder service. UrbanX sends it to the NHTSA vPIC decoder to read the vehicle details. Decoded vehicle details may be cached for a short time to make repeat lookups fast. We do not ask for or store your name, email or phone number on this site.

Analytics

We use Microsoft Clarity (pages visited, taps and scrolls) and Google Analytics 4 (visits and button clicks) to understand how the site is used and to improve it. Both may set cookies and are governed by their own privacy statements (Microsoft, Google). We also count anonymous events, such as a lookup or a click to UrbanX, in our own server log. We do not use any of this to identify you, and the VIN you type is not stored with those counts.
